Alyque Padamsee’s third career
One of the reasons Alyque Padamsee was given the Padma Shri was for his continued work in public service communication, throughout his career of using media to change public opinion.
Here is a list of some of the causes that he took up: Anti-Dowry, Anti-Drugs, Anti-Smoking, Anti-Violence, Secular India, Road Safety, Food Safety, Rights for Women, Rights for the Handicapped … just to mention a few.
Throughout his term as the CEO of Lintas a new billboard design would go up every week at the Chowpatty crossing in Bombay for traffic going North. While most of these were for traffic safety, in co-ordination with the Mumbai Police, many of them went beyond Road Safety: effecting social change.
Several of the low budget, self-produced TVCs went on to win International Awards and were used as a training tool at Lintas for creating effective communication.
Alyque Padamsee also served on the Governing Council and Advisory Bodies for non-profit organizations that sought his advice for their public communication to impact mindsets.
