The family that bred the legend and The legend that bred an unusual family.
Alyque’s early schooling was with Miss Murphy, then in a prestigious educational establishment in South Bombay, the Cathedral John Connon School. He founded the school newspaper ‘Our Journal’ along with two other class mates. He attended St Xavier’s College thereafter and started St Xavier’s College Dramatic Club. He then went onto Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, England, and studied Theatre. He came back to India and joined The Theatre Group of Bombay which his brother Sultan (Bobby) Padamsee had started.
Kulsum Terrace was the palatial home where he grew up. His father Padamsee-Seth owned an empire covering ten buildings.
Alyque married Pearl Chowdhry (nee Waiz) a divorcee with 2 children Ranjit and Rohini. Pearl was talented, supportive and crazy about theatre and they had a daughter Raëll who has now her own production company.
Alyque then went on to marry Dolly Thakore and they had a son Quasar Thakore Padamsee who produced The Youth Theatre Festival Thespo.
Later Alyque married Sharon Prabhakar, and their daughter Shazahn also went onto acting in the film industry.
